Ideas for more psionic classes like Soulknife

Asmor

First Post
I really like the idea that psionics should provide special abilities, rather than just being what is essentially a variant spellcasting system. I love the feats like Up the Walls and others which require or expend psionic focus, and I love the Soul Knife class.

So I'm looking for some ideas for more classes which grant special psionic abilities.

Here are two I've come up with:

Psionic Infiltrator: Abilities like Stick to Walls (obvious), Neglectful Presence (guards happen to be looking the other way as character passes), maybe some sort of blending into surroundings or aura of silence.

Psycho Baller (yeah, silly name): Summons up perfect spheres of a shiny, silvery metal which float through the air, attacking enemies and guarding the character). Number of balls would be dependant on intelligence, agility dependant on wisdom and power and toughness dependant on charisma.

I think this last class is the perfect example of what I'm looking for. Interesting, different, strikingly unique and flavorful. Basically I want classes which could take over all the traditional roles, but in their own way. The Soulknife would be a good melee fighter, the psycho baller good at range, infiltrator would take over the Rogue's duties... Need some kind of healing/buff/defense (I'm thinking maybe similar to the Bard with auras that buff allies/debuff foes) and I guess the mage could be replaced by a Psion...

So... any ideas?

I'd check out Szatany's ultimate classes on the WotC boards. He has some interesting takes on the psionic classes.

Thanks for the suggestion! The Ultimate Mentalist is perfect for my needs... Very easy to add new "weapons" to...

baller sounds a bit off soulknifes are like fighters they can be god at both range or melee depending on feats and skills chosen haing someone else specifically for range seems like they are muscling in on the soulknifes turf

if you want new psionic classes whith the same kind of no power thing going on i would advise you start by looking at the prestige classes then extending them into classes with added goodies to make up for no powers

example: Kineticist

same base attack, saves, and skills but extended to 20 levels and no reqs except must be chaotic to advance as a kineticist

Unless otherwise noted these abilities are exactly the same as in the xph

lvl special
1 Wild talent, Energy Lash (1d8)
2 Weapon focus (Energy lash)
3 Energy Adaptation (+4/10 resistance)
4 Hand of Energy (+1d6 per 3 levels)
5 Energy Bolt (1d4 per 2 levels) 3+Cha mod a day as a Standard Action
6 Weapon Focus (Energy Bolt)
7 Double lash ( may summon a second lash and us it as an off hand weapon), Two-weapon fighting
8 Weapon of Energy (1d6 per 3 levels)
9 Energy adaptation (+8/20 resistance)
10 Energy Bolt (1d4 per 2 levels) 3+Cha mod+Class Level a day as an attack action
11 Nimbus 1/day
12 Fire Walk, Psionic talent
13 Improved two weapon fighting
14
15 Energy adaptation (+12/30 resistance)
16 Nimbus 2/day
17 Heat Death (1d8 every two levels) DC = 10+cha mod+1/2 class level
18
19 Greater two weapon fighting
20 Conflaguration (1d8 a level) DC = 10+cha mod+1/2 class level 1/day

well what do you think ?

My idea would be the Mesmerist, which would sort of be like a psionic bard with a focus on Telepathy powers, with some clairsentience. I can't decide if they should be limited to 6th level powers or go all the way to 9th. But they'd get things like Mesmerisms which are a lot like bardic music which include Fascinate and Suggestion, and possibly other things like Inspire Courage. They'd get at least 6 skill points and be really good at using skills like diplomacy, bluff and sense motive...
