Legend
At some point you need to have the evil party be evil. Some can be following orders, others deceitful in getting others to do evil things. A big event where someone is brutally killed or sacrificed can be traumatic.

Eltab

Lord of the Hidden Layer
The War Priest could be devoted to Kord and be into physical contests.
- He might offer to arm-wrestle the toughest PC, rather than get into a weapons-drawn battle, to take a McGuffin.
- Or race the wood elf to the end of the hallway (winner's party gets to pick which way to go at the intersection; loser's party has to take the other direction).
- Or weightlift the halfling / gnome, which nicely clears him out of the way so the rest of his party can pass through the doorway.
- If Team Rival beats the PCs in a fight, he will tie them up and tell them, "Let's see you untie these knots and get yourself loose … if you can."
- In order to make a better fight, he might Bless the PCs before sending them into a room to clear out a monster, while his party sneaks off behind their backs to take advantage of their success (or the distraction the PCs cause).
- If the PC beats him fair and square, he is a good sport about it as long as the stakes are low. When something important comes up, he comes out of 'fun and games and a good challenge' mode into a more determined attitude.
