Ideas for supers adventures?

Read The Authority for some really powerful characters fighting on a really big scale, but with a conscience and a continuing plot that doesn't have a status quo.

For inspirations of low level super powered action go and get your hands on "Mystery Men". I think the DVD is better because the deleted scenes really expain a lot of the actual plot and storyline.

Other inspirations for "early years" could be any over the top action plot like James Bond type or Die Hard or Leathal Weapon.

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to comics. Can anyone recommend something a little pulpy with good/believable plots?

Also, does anyone know if there are any free supers adventures (for any system) available on line (like WotC does with their D&D and Star Wars web adventures)?

Well, to my knowledge, there are currently no free web adventures available, but I honestly haven't looked that hard.

As to recommendations, that does depend on which of the above appealed to you. If you're looking for some good classic material, I highly recommend Marvel and DC's reprint series in 'phonebook' format. Relatively cheap and good stories.

In particular, I would look to Marvel's "Essential Avengers" and some of DC's Justice League collections for good material that is relevant to a standard RPG group. They fit the mold of a classic supers equivalent of an adventuring party in a 4-color world (btw, in case you're wondering what the term '4-color means, it usually refers to the standard CMYK color process that was traditionally used for publishing mainstream comics, particularly Marvel and DC).

Well, I picked up the Essential X-Men (Issues 1-24) and I've already got some great adventure ideas. Thanks for the recommendation!
