Ideas needed - undead character template

I'll check the Villain's Handbook for ideas when I get home.

Be sure to check out the Bone Creature and Corpse Creature templates in BoVD, as well. Envision a Spellstitched (MM2) bone creature (a living sentient skeleton etched with magical runes). The template does not alter INT, WIS, or CHR.

The PCs followed his boot prints from the grave, not knowing that a sentient skeleton now wore the boots. The bone creature, animated with a Create Greater Undead spell cast by the witch leader of a covey of greenhags, has been charged with the destruction of the hags' hated rivals, an enclave of drow.

Should he complete his task, the hags have promised to teach him the skills of the Body Snatcher, a hag PrC versed in the ways of Skin Theft.

etc...etc...etc... :D

The thing about the Revenant is that it REALLY depends on who you are facing. If you are not facing your killer than you are nothing but an undead with turn immunity, some damage reduction and few extra elemental resistances.

Its when you are facing your killer that you are really jacked up.

Maybe you can propose a lesser revenant.

Okay, I looked through some more books last night, and nothing really jumped out and said "Use me!" I was thinking, though, that maybe some of his traits/abilities/whatever might be related to the way he died. His cause of death was a bad case of flame strike, with complications arising from too much blade barrier in his system. I'm thinking maybe a burning touch effect (like shocking grasp, but fire damage), and he's always accompanied by the smell of burning.

Ghost Rider, anyone? ;) There is a burning skeleton creature (effigy, perhaps) in one of the monster books (perhaps FF, I am at work without my books).

Ugh! Don't say that. We're already been joking about the Crow comparison...Tewligan has been suggesting that his character wear a dark trench coat, paint his face white, and be accompanied by dark, brooding goth music wherever he went...

Unfortunately, these are just the sort of comparisons that we don't want to conjure. At one point in the campaign, I had introduced an NPC who saved 2 of the PC's in the poor district of town (he jumped in to help them in the middle of a nasty combat). My players nicknamed him "Batman" and from that point forward, the ambience was ruined. I eventually had to kill off that NPC after too many "utility belt" and "bat cave" references...
