Idiots Guide to OGL?

Sulaco

First Post
I am a smart guy. I have a 142 IQ; I read "A Brief Histoy of Time" and got it (well, much of it anyway); I wathc science programs for fun; I am a lateral-thinker and a very creative sort; but legalese double-speak mumbo-jumbo is completly beyond me. I read the OGL and I just have to say "huh?".

Is there something like a "Complete Idiot's Guide to OGL" around somewhere? Has anyoned gone through point-by-point and explained in everyday laguage exactly what each element means?

To date I have written for companies who have lawyers to make sure thay are OGL compliant, but I want to self-publish and I need it spelled out for me so I don't go blundering in with my big size 13's and FUBAR the whole thing.

Thanks.

Consider the FAQs on the right side of this page: http://www.wizards.com/D20/main.asp?x=welcome,3

- You get to use stuff that's been declared under the OGL (like WOTC's SRD).
- You have to also use the OGL to republish that stuff.
- You can't use any stuff released by others not under ther OGL ("Product Identity").
- You absolutely must retain all copyright notices under Section 15 from the stuff you use, and you absolutely must add your own, too.
