IDW announces new "Dungeons & Dragons" comic series

Being a Spelljammer nut, I have the Spelljammer comics AND the "TSR Worlds #1" which has the intro story to them all :)

the great bit about the red draogn was...it was quite "young", or at least...compared ot Meredith's powers...
DAMN IT, I wanted to know WTH was going on with Meredith: was she a demigod, possessed, or what? end of comics = no answer :/

I'm interested in any setting, any version any time, anywhere.

Honestly, the lists of turn ons and turn offs is...WOW.

IDW as a publisher though? Not so much. Distribution on these titles is limited and confined to comic stores -- which is a specialty store I tend not to go to that often.

We also sell to bookstores like Borders, Barnes & Noble, Hastings, not to mention Amazon.com. We also do digital versions for iPhone, iPad, PSP, Blackberry, and more devices are in the works.

I hope you give it a read and like what you see!

While I appreciate the fact that in many instances the same people who write the games and novels write the comics, I am less impressed with the artwork nowadays. It is very hard to find art I'd appreciate with these books. The A-list and even the B-list artists either work for DC or Marvel, or publish their own stuff. I compare the art I see in some of these comics to the art a company like CrossGen had with their fantasy titles and it can't compare.

I hear you. Luckily, we have Andrea Di Vito drawing the D&D ongoing. Funny, he got his big break at Crossgen, and went on to do some great stuff for Marvel on Thor and Annihilation. Hope you find it up to snuff!

Plus, the comic market is really bad nowadays. These things are costing close to $4-$5 a pop, and numbers that would have resulted in cancellation in the 1990s are now the median today. Thus I am a lot more selective with my money nowadays. I just can't see myself putting down any money for these.

I hear you on this one, too. For the ongoing series we plan to stuff the issues with lots of back matter, including content for use in the game.

But it will only cost you a buck to try out both the ongoing and the Dark Sun miniseries when Dungeons & Dragons #0 comes out in August. Should be making the rounds at the gaming shows this summer, too.

How are your international deliveries? If the price is right I would be very interested.

I'm getting an ipad at the end of this year. How much are the old spelljammer comics for that?

Thanks for replying. I guess my gripe about art came from what I've seen as a recent trend. There are a lot more comic labels out there but it seems the art talent pool has shrunk a bit. The last gaming comic I got was Monte Cook's Ptolus, and (like Monte himself) I was disappointed when the artist changed mid-mini series.

I'll have to see. I just got the new Previews. I hope you have some preview art though on your web site or through the comic news sites, as (like in the past), the cover doesn't reveal the interior.

I doubt that they have the rights to reprint old material.

This is awesome news!!!!!!

I loved his Brath comic. I love his art. He was up there with Perez in my view back in the Crossgen days.

Miss the Crossgen stuff. Sojourn was my favorite comic...

I was hoping Disney purchase of Marvel would unearth the Crossgen material.
