I would already be totally OK with a documentary/report about those 4 days of gaming madness at GenCon. Even this alone could make for a packed 45 minutes of viewing goodness.
Well, the video should not focus on one game, as there are so many man y many of them out there, but the idea of gamers, and try to cover some of the major subsections, like RPGS, wargamers, etc.
If you end up doing coverage of gen con, I would recommend treating it like a series of news articles rather than a full documentary. "What's new in warhammer!" "Advances in 3pp print on demand options? "Best new doodads for table top gaming"...
Like a video magazine that viewers can pick which part they want to see.
Of course, I would prefer to see quality adventure modules that are either system free or easy conversions. Something like a shared city where the main area is mapped out and authors build on it aka thieves world.
Did anyone here see any of the videos that were showing at GenCon? I know at one point while I was running a game, a woman came in and said, "Come see my movie at 6pm!" And then I went to get dinner instead.
Who would the audience be for such a Gen Con documentary?
I say we just stick a live-feed camera on Russ's head and get him into as many games and weird situations as possible.
