If you could try a RPG that ISN'T D&D...

I have one word for you --- TORG...

Many, Many, Many great hours playing this game but no one seems to know what you are talking about any more.

And I have had great hopes that the new version may actually be released some day.

Nile Empire here I come.

My list:

  • WEG's new d6 system. Star Wars d6 is a family favorite, but 2e was a bomb and I'd like to see what they fixed and how well it runs.
  • WW's "Storytelling" system -> the new one. They made some fundamental changes to Storyteller, and I'd love to see if it makes the game less "martial arts dice chucking" and more, well, "storytelling."
I've played a wide slew of the rest, and they're not interesting enough to wet my appetite.

I heard of two games at Gen Con.

Crimson Empire. Probably won't happen as it's an expensive book and I can't justify the price to myself. If it comes to Amazon.com I might look it over.

Dogs in the Vineyards: Some weird game that I've heard a bit about.

A/State. I had extra copies and gave them to friends so hopefully we'll be trying this game out soon.

DISCLAIMER: I roleplay every game I play

Some of the ones i've tried but haven't played in ages and i'd like to again:

Chainmail
Car Wars
Star Fleet Battles
Bushido
Top Secret
Gamma World
Metamorphasis Alpha
Alternity
Boot Hill
Star Frontiers
Talisman

Others i'd give a go again:

GURPS
TORG
CoC
Palladium

It is really scary when you see a list of games posted by someone else that matches your early game library :heh:

Especially with someone with a reputation like diaglo

Guess it could be taken many different ways....

Many of those on my list have already been mentioned.

Deadlands (non-d20) is a good one.

I'm told the more recent Star Trek games were of decent construction as well.

Bushido
Gamma World
Metamorphosis Alpha
Star Frontiers
Warhammer FRP
Space Opera
Rifts
Call of Cthulhu

Non RPGs
O.G.R.E.
Star Frontiers - Knight Hawks space battles
Clay-O-Rama ( best played late at night after many beers :) )
