If you use phpBB and have ver 2.10 or under UPGRADE immediately

My site was hit by a worm two hours ago totally defacing my site and erasing my forum. If you use phpBB 2.10 or under please upgrade immediately so this doesn't happen to you. Now I have to reload my site and figure out how to backup my forum without it going back to 2.08....

I wasn't upgrading for a long time, then got into the habit when I started reading how critical some of the bug fixes were. I also do regular backups of the database from the configuration menu.

Well I "sealed the hole" BUT I am now rebuilding the forum page and need everyone to re register which I feel horrible about. Next time I backup (which will be every other day) I will set it for files only and not the whole structure....

Any particular reason you would do a data only backup? Personally, I do an entire data + structure backup.

Let's say it goes up to .12 and I do a structure backup while under .11 will it knock it back to .11? I have a backup but if I reload it it knocks my site back to 2.08. Any help would be appreciated....

Good point. I doubt there'll be too many structural changes with further updates however. There haven't been any since the first revisions of ver 2 if I remember correctly. I'm sure there are answers on the PHPBB2 site or forums, which are heavily trafficked. Perhaps I'll start doing both types of backups just in case.

probably it hit I think 30,000 alone yesterday. The weird thing is it didn't hit some of the RPG companies that are using 2.06 or lower.... I am glad it didn';t I don't want anyone going through what myself and alot of other are doing...

Yeah, I feel your pain one of our tech guys spents hours cleaning up someone's website that was hit, he was not happy by the time he got done.

What exactly was the exploit anyway? It's bad enough to be able to damage the forums themselves, but to be able to affect the rest of the website is really nasty.
