Ilithids

Slammer

First Post
HI. I'm new here and I've been away from D+D for several years. I've been running a campaign using 3.5 for about six months and always encourage my players to bring new ideas to my game which I pride myself on being highly adaptive to my players needs. In fact my game world is based entirely on character background that I was given before I started running.
Enough backplot. One of my players has retired his character and wants to play a githyanki. I have no problem with this and see it as a good excuse to take the game in a new direction involving lots of nasty Ilithids. I've looked at the MM and MMII but I cannot see anything. That is why I have joined this forum. Please help me. Where should I look for Ilithid info ? Or has my MMII got some pages stuck together with jam ?

The Mindflayer (a.k.a. the Illithid) can be found in the MM 3.5 on page 187, the book even contains an advanced version for higher level games (Mindflayer 9th-level sorcerer).

The half-illithid template which can be used to create hybrid illithid-kin can be found in the Fiend Folio on page 90-91. (It is also supposed to excist in the Underdark book to the forgotten realms, but I don't won that one).

Additionally the Neothelid can be found in the Expanded Psionic's Handbook on page 204.

The Elder Brain is also supposed to exist in the Forgotten Realms underdark book.

Happy gaming.

Mind Flayers are still closed content, Krishnath - as are Slaad and a bunch of those guys that were pulled from the SRD before final release of the 3.0 SRD.

BUT - there -is- a d20 book dedicated to them. It's pretty cool in my opinion (which is quite biased: I was one of the writers).

It is available from Paradigm Concepts and is called "Unveiled Masters: The Essential Guide to Mind Flayers".

If you can find it, I'd also recommend The Illithiad from TSR, published for late 2E. The rules are out of date, but the fluff is still of quality.
