I'm a Rat Bastard DM!

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
My gaming group got together this past week, on Saturday, and we had quite the session, gaming from around 5:30pm to 3:30am. The session was a mix of roleplaying and monster bashing.

However, the highlight of my night was when one of the bad guys scored huge damage several times in a row, incuding through a 50% miss chance. One of my players mumbles "rat bastard" under his breath, but I heard him anyway.

I was so happy! :D

The PCs eventually prevailed, but their in tough right now. We're going through the Crumbling Hall of the Frost Giant Jarl, and they now find themselves trapped in a part of the complex having to fight their way through all the giants.

(They used a seeming spell to appear as a duergar surveying team there to help fix up the hall. It was a fun Bluff followed up by some good skill checks and roleplaying, so I had the giants take them on a "tour" of the hall to see what needs fixing. They nearly had fit when they found out there was a cryrohydra.) :p

Anyway, just thought I share the happy news.

That sounds like a lot of fun! :D

Welcome to the club, young one. May your future hold many more years of rat-bastardry.

Good idea with the Seeming spell, as well. Rat-bastard DMs do inspire the best from their players.

"Rat bastard"!

Excellent. Mebbe DMs should have levels. Rat Bastard = level 2!

Wouldn't Rat Bastard be a DM PrC? :D

Requires +6 DM-fu modifier. Grants the DM the ability to make seemingly improbable rolls (such as a string of hits vs. Full Concealment) in the open with non-loaded dice.
Feat: Tactical Prowess - Grants the DM the ability to run monsters and NPCs to the fullest extent, rather than as a poor facsimile of computer AI.

Reminds me of the time the party barbarian was making a desperate attack against the BBEG, hoping to keep the other frontline fighter alive.

The players all chanted "nat 20! nat 20!". I stood up and pointed to the middle the table as she tossed the die and simply said, "A two".

The die landed (completely randomly of course) on 2.

The stunned silence that followed was priceless!

I have to admit to barking out an evil "Muwahh-ha-ha".

Those are the times that make DMing worth it! ;-)

Cheers,
Noffham
