I'm looking for a good 1st lvl FR module...

First Post
I am going to be DM'ng for a group of relative newbies (except for my fiancee) who have never played in the Forgotten Realms setting. I know that there was a thread several weeks ago that recommended some 1st level modules, but I am unable to find it. So if you know of any excellent 1st lvl Forgotten Realms modules, in either 3rd edition or 2nd (shouldn't be that hard to convert), your advice and suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

That's Raiders of Galath's Roost from Dungeon... #87, unless my memory fails. I am logging on from school, and cannot check my shelf right now. It is an excellent low-level adventure, and pretty much the only low-level Forgotten Realms adventure I consider to be worth running.

"Raiders of Galath's Roost" is indeed in Dungeon #87, and I'll second the recommendations for this module -- it's quite good.

If you don't mind adapting things to the Realms, there are some other good suggestions in this recent thread on 1st level adventures -- like "Life's Bazaar," the first Adventure Path module from the most recent issue of Dungeon.

Oddly few low-level Realms adventures have been published (the same is true for Gygax's modules, which congregate around 10th level). I recommend FRQ1 Haunted Halls of Eveningstar, which is a version of the dungeon complex where the Knights of Myth Drannor began their adventuring careers; the dungeon itself is more suited to 2nd-3rd level characters than 1st. "Irongard" (Dungeon #18) can be tied into it well.

"The Raiders of Galath's Roost" is OK, but it's unprofessionally lousy from a Realmslore standpoint, simply ignoring major sources on Galath's Roost and the Riders of Mistledale.

Trouble at Grog's

Dungeon Magazine #4

a must play adventure.

This is by far the best low level adventure I have ever run through. I think it was reprinted a couple of years back, it was part of a collection of low lvl adventures, but I seem to have forgotten the name of it. Man we had a good time going through that one :)

FRQ2 Hordes of Dragonspear

not the best adventure, but easily adaptable and with plenty of room for DM adjusts;)

I14 Swords of the Iron Legion, another adaptable module.

N5 Under Illefarn...try it you'll like it.:D
