I'd suggest taking a look at a book called Factory, and its counterpart is called Arsenal.

I recommend Arsenal as well. Just don't blame me when your player's are vaporized by the weapons!
You could even have the nation threatening other parts of your Campaign world with it's powerful Magi-tech, perhaps the players are sent to try and stop an upcoming invasion or some such.
Or ....
You could use the upcoming Githyanki Invasion ideas from Dragon & Polyhedron the players are desperately trying to forge an alliance with the nation to trade for weaponsand tech in order to fight the Gith.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the information.
Thanks for the idea BB, but the Gith already invaded my game world months ago and my players were (of course) instrumental in beating them back. In a resulting spin-off story arc that my players just finished they stopped the githyanki and their allies from establishing a foothold in the wilderness... so if I bring the Githyanki back their efforts will be made meaningless at this point. I can't have that.
One of my players is my wife, and I have to go to sleep some time...

Oh yeah, you gotta keep the "warden" happy. LOL
Seriously though, check out Arsenal it has some really cool "Techno-Magic" Weapons. I'd say Techno-Wizard but then the Palladium Lawyers would be all over me. : )
If you are wanting to go all out and add Robots, and Dweoware check out the companion book Factory.
Monte Cook has talked about doing a book called Chaositech, although I think it's a ways off.

Along with the ones already mentioned, may I suggest the D20 Mecha Compendium. I've only paged through it in the FLGS, but it has an extensive section on fantasy mecha with some really neat-o designs.
