I'm sick of character sheets that look like tax forms!

Hey everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. I love enworld!

Down to business: I've become increasingly unhappy with the "tax form" appearance of character sheets, both the "official" sheets and the many home-grown sheets posted on the net.

Does anyone remember a series of "artsy" sheets that appeared in (I believe) Dragon about a year ago? They were very minimalist; instead of "AC=Dex+Armor+blah blah blah" they simply read "AC", etc. I remember that each sheet featured a different fantasy character, rendered in truly beautiful ink artwork.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyone know what issues these were? I want to track them down.

Peace.

Hmm. I never use pre-printed ones. I just type mine up in .doc format, and try to keep it clean. Here's an example. The stuff you won't recognize is either house rules, or from Elements of Magic - revised edition.

The complete sets (three sets!) contain many more sheets than appeared in DRAGON Mag, but I think the issues you're looking for are in the early-300s range. I'm almost certain there's one in DRAGON 301, for example.

Character sheets need to be easy to read and functional, I think having them look good is really not needed. Besides, tax forms are fun :D

Holy Frickin' Crap!

Now THAT is a character sheet!!!! Thanx for the link, brother...that was *exactly* what I was looking for.

(Hmmm...now I think I'll head on over to rpg.net and make fun of Exalted. :] )

Cool sheets, buy definately pricey, considering how many books I buy. :\
No argument there! I wouldn't really have known anything about them if I hadn't received Set A (I think) as a gift.

Personally, I'm a bit of a numbers/stats junkie, so my personal character sheets look very much like tax forms! (They look even more like these sheets.)

@Johnnie: You're welcome!

I wrote Dragon commenting on these, and they printed it! I think one of the larger publishers could do well selling something similar to this which would keep the cost down. The company who made these should specialize in specific character character sheets.
