Post an image you want to use in a game, something that's been percolating in your mind, waiting for the right moment to wow your players.
Me, I'm coming up to a long hiatus in my campaign. We finished part 1 three years ago, then took a 2 year break. Now we're about to finish part 2, then take a break so another guy can run his game. But I want to end on a cliffhanger.
The party's main foe now is a devil mage with mastery over mirrors, letting him scry through them, reflect magic, and yes, capture souls. I'm trying to steer the group to a showdown against him in his throne room, where golden curtains hang on the wall. He has a large mirror beside his throne, through which he scries, and which the PCs will no doubt want to avoid.
The mage will be preparing something horrible, and the PCs will have to overcome his guards to reach him, and then, when they enter the chamber, he'll throw up a wall of fire to cut off their escape, and then with a flick of his hand drop the curtains, revealing rows and rows of floor-to-ceiling mirrors.
I just love the image of billowing gold crumpling to the floor, revealing ominous, towering mirrors. I'll let you know if I manage to actually pull this off.
So, what images do you want to use in your games?
