Immortals d20

A highlander RPG would almost have to be a two player game, you have the referee and the player. Remember there can be only one. You could have a group of watchers that play, but me thinks that would get boring very quickly. This leads to a very limited market for the product.

What I'm planning is not highlander but something loosly based on the concept. There could be more then one. If the last remaining immortals all work together they still wield enough power to rule the world.

Another problem might be licensesing. I bet they'd want a ton to license the use of the name.

A third problem with a highlander role-playing game is the setting, and the rules that a setting implies. What period in time are you going to play in. What ruleset are you going to use. I'm thinking that with d20 and d20 modern out there you could actually matriculate between the two as the characters aged without much trouble with the rules. The biggest problem would be magic. d20 is high magic and d20 modern is no magic so you'd need to pick some point in time and dwindle the magic at that point.

All in all producing a professional quality game based on highlander is a daunting task.

Highlander D20

I just re-wrote the old Highlander rules from 3.5 to OGL. It is a complete re-work and is all cleaned up. It should be able to fit in any D20 setting as long as you can have templates, skills and feats. I also made a Hero Lab data set for Pathfinder. The rules are in a txt format and a “nice” pdf file is coming. I want some play testing and feedback before I make a final pdf book. So let me know what yall think.

hmmm..

My answer to all of this is that DnD, as well as most role-playing games actually, can be played with only two people.. Highlander seems to be of interest. I think that Heroes would be fun with two people, or GURPS.. I guess that i'm just a strict DND fan though.. I've played DM for anywhere from 1-11 people at a time. With two players, a good idea is to each work on creating a campaign world and for the players to change shifts being DM/player.. I did that for about 6 months.. very fun and intellectually stimulating.
