Imp vs. Pixie

I just wanted to know what people thought about these two things having the same LA. I got the imp from Savage Species so maybe that's my problem. But it seems to me that the Pixie's LA is right but the imp's should be lower.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks

I think they're pretty close, actually. You didn't include their hitdice, so it's possible that's part of the problem, but it seems like the imp has plenty going for him - being tiny, immune to poison, fast healing(!), more natural armor, and a bunch of at will spells. Also, his polymorph isn't a spell, it's actually an alternate form, which means he can do it as many times a day as he wants., and it's caster level 12, which is better than the Pixie's That's pretty decent.

The Pixie gets polymorph into anything (but only once per day and only 8th level caster), better stats, better DR, spell resistance, and more spells, though they're only once per day.

All in all, I don't think it's as unbalanced as you do. But I haven't tried making characters with them, so maybe I'm missing something big.. I guess the stats on the pixie make it pretty sweet...

Pixie. I love it! My favorite LA +4 critter. Definately on the strong side of +4's.

Imp. Definately a +4 though not the best of them. +5 natural = +1, Fast Healing 2 = +1, Flight = +1, Stat Bonuses = +1. Size bonus to hit and ac is also nice as are the spell abilities if you want to be a caster of some sort.

Both having the ability to be invisible anytime they want is priceless. Though the pixie definately wins out on that one. But in reality, comparing them doesn't really work as they are not equal, but merely two people in the same wide LA band.

LA's arent' thin lines where each is clearly one or the other, but rather wide bands that fit a lot of considerations and have entrants both on the lower and upper ends of each band. :)
