Just scaling down a large heavily textured image like the Ennies medal leads to an effect called "aliasing". I don't know if IE deals with this when rescaling an image, but on Netscape, the beautiful medal looks *very* noisy when rescaled to a much lower resolution (like the 100x100 one on the front page, the 175x175 one at the entrance to the voting booth, or the 200x200 pixel one on the EN World RPG Awards Web Page
For your convenience, I made a series of rescaled versions of the medal where I took care of the aliasing, at 100x100, 200x200 and 300x300 pixels. There's still an aliasing problem around the border (most noticeably the jagged lower edge), but there's little you can do about that without knowing the background the image will be displayed on.
