From the Trip description in combat section of the 3.5E SRD:
and from the Improved Trip feat description in the SRD:
If I read this correctly, the +4 bonus, from the Improved Trip feat, on the trip check does NOT apply on your attempt to resist a trip attempt?
For example, a 6th level dwarven Monk with 18 Str, 17 Dex and the Improved Trip feat attempts to make an unarmed trip. His trip attempt has a modifier of +8 (+4 Str and +4 feat). He fails and his opponent attempts to trip him in return. His modifier is still +8 (+4 Str and +4 racial stability). Is this right?
If you win, you trip the defender. If you lose, the defender may immediately react and make a Strength check opposed by your Dexterity or Strength check to try to trip you.
and from the Improved Trip feat description in the SRD:
You also gain a +4 bonus on your Strength check to trip your opponent.
