In need of creative minds for 'divine tech' in my DS campaign...

'ello again everyone. :)

I'm working on a new DS campaign), with this new one using aspects of OGL Ancients.

The overall story:

Roughly a year ago, long range scouts ran into another empire, one that focuses on divine will rather than magic. It has been a bad year, but galactic war has been overted... so far. :]

Since I'm using the OGL magic system for this new empire, there is very little in the way of permanent magic, unlike the Dragon Empire (being ruled by magical beings has its advantages). To compensate, I'm using the OGL classes (their warriors have far better training) but this doesn't help in the tech area. For example, in DS a ships FTL capabilities are supplied by a magic item casting teleport. Combine this with the DMG and other items in DS specific books, and you can see where the problems come in... :)

It doesn't have to be divine tech per se. This new empire may simply be technologically superior, with their faith being the main focus.

Any suggestions?

The OGL set already has one. Problem is, since it's based on egyptian/greek mythology, the artificer's abilities are EXTREMELY outclassed by mechanist, pilot, rogue, and anyone else with a Repair/Craft skill.

I'm looking at going the 'better tech to serve the gods' ideal for now. Looking at making their masterwork items do 'plus one die of damage/+1 AC/+3 to appropriate skill'.

There is an example of a 'sunsword' (toned down light sabre) that would be perfect for the followers of Ra. An outside source also has stats on a ship hull material that's bronze(ish) in color, that's completely immune of magic (neither side will know about it until first contact). That and the members of the other empire's ability to effect dice rolls by spending Divine points should go a long way...
