MAD cartoonist Al Jaffe, best known for the Fold-In, died today. He was 102.

My uncle, Angel, who hipped me to MAD as a kid by gifting me his collection of issues from the 60s and early 70s (some of which I still have) passed away on Monday, too. One of the last best conversations I had with him was coincidentally about Al Jaffe's fold-ins.

Atiq Ahmed, an organized crime leader who also served in India's parliament, was shot in the head and killed on live television Saturday while in police custody in the northern city of Parayagraj, as was his brother, Ashraf Ahmed, a former legislator in Uttar Pradesh state. At the time of the murders, the two brothers were being escorted in handcuffs to a hospital for a medical checkup.
