Ah bugger Tony Clarkin died. Very big fan of Magnum and was looking forward to seeing them one last time this year.
:( Saw them in London several times when I was a student in the '80s. I'll have to give this a virtual spin tonight.

Composer Laurie Johnson, who wrote the theme for The Avengers TV series and scored Dr. Strangelove and Moonraker, died last Tuesday. He was 96.

Aw no. Howard Waldrop, one of the very best American sf writers of our time, is dead at 77.


He was never very famous, more popular among writers and editors than the general fandom. So here are a few of his stories.

“The Ugly Chickens”. The dodo is still dead, but its final years were a lot more complicated and later than you might think.


@All About Strange Monsters of the Recent Past”. Suppose every monster movie came true at once.

“Night of the Cooters”. Suppose three of the Martian cylinders went astray and landed in Texas. The local sheriff is played by Slik Pickens.
