IN REMEMBRANCE--2025

Next week, I'll be flying down to San Diego for the memorial service for my friend, who also was a gamer, Wayne Sherman, who passed in March.

He was a true and dear friend, not just in games but in life. He befriended me way back in 1989, a new nerd in our town who got lucky and was working at the comic shop. We played Awful Green Things from Outer Space, and attended some 20+ Strategicons together, notwithstanding one or the other of us being not in the LA area. He was part of our long running game group that included runs of MegaTraveller, Shadowrun (twice), and GURPS, which he just loved and which he introduced me to. He was truly interested in connecting on a deeper level, even if games was the reason to get together, it was an opportunity to talk philosophy, history, and get into the emotional heart of whatever was going on.

I'm assuming there will be games, and memories, and tears at the memorial service. And laughter. While he would have been so glad we were all in touch with our feelings, he also would have encouraged us to connect and have fun.

RIP Wayne, I'll miss you buddy.
