I just found out a few minutes ago that gemologist Bill Vance passed away in mid-March. I was a frequent customer and occasional collaborator of his.

Even as you could see the years taking their toll, he was always humorous & energetic, and more often than not, he was happy to educate you on his field of expertise.

I used to love seeing him on The Learning Channel back when it was still The Learning Channel back in the early 1990s. He had an episode all about the aquatic ape theory I absolutely loved even though it's pure bunk.
