In the works

I didn't see any discussion of the latest in the works so I thought I'd start one:

The most interesting stuff as far as I'm concerned is the Unearthed Arcana stuff. I'm dusbious as all hell about the idea of character traits in DnD, but at least it's not flaws and benefits seperate. The alt. fighting stuff and class variants are interesting. But I hope that that stuff isn't too much of the book personally... thought perhaps that is the reason that it's a drown cover book and not a blue cover book. Previously all the rules sounded more DM orientated but this makes it look like there's more 'player option' stuff.

Also, it kinda sucked that there was no new pic of the archfiends, just the same one as last month.

I agree Olive, the new UA stuff is interesting, but seeing more of the Player's Guide for FR is of semi-interest.

We'll probably see the pics for the Arch Fiends like in Feburary.

I agree: it does suck.

With regard to the Traits: I really liked the look of the traits I saw. The penalties all seemed to hurt. (Spot checks happen a lot in my campaign). They're rather minor effects when all is said and done, and do provide another hook for role-playing.

The only one I'm dubious about is Aggressive (+2 Init, -1 AC), but another +2 to initiative isn't going to matter with the way I roll initiative for my monsters (a 1? Again?!?!?)

Cheers!

I imagine you're right. I will almost certainly get the PGFR, if only to make sure that my magic and monsters of faerun stay useful to me...

I'm more interested to see if I can end this war on the FR boards with Zanan. With me and Orcus as the victors of course.

Poor Nightfall, you just can't win that war with Zanan. I keep up my end of the arguement that Orcus is a FR deity though, even though I've only used him a few times in this single player game.

I think that +2 to init is probably not as good as -1 to AC is bad, unless you're doing some wierd min max based on initiative, sneak attack and great cleave or something.

Hey a demon cultist can dream can't he? ;) Not to mention I still hold that Orcus ought to be the one in charge of undead in FR period. But then I guess that's the difference between me and the rest of the FR lot.

:) Well he needs to kick Kel out of the spot, but then Kel, Cyric, Midnight, and Adon are still only mortals in my game so that won't matter much to me. Hmmm now you just gave me a new plot hook there. Orcus replacing Myrkul...... ponder ponder ponder!

Hey I'm all for it. I just want Orcus as the God of Undead and as for the dead, hey whatever happens with them is fine. But if you want to replace Mykrul with Orcus, you got my vote! :)
