In your opinion, the VERY BEST adventure product to come out in the last two years.

While it is indeed self-serving, Rite Publishing's The Curse of the Golden Spear introductory trilogy of adventures set in the dark Japanese feudal setting of Kaidan, as well as the one-shot free adventure for Kaidan, Frozen Wind. (I created the adventure outline for The Curse of the Golden Spear).

Rite Publishing's 15th - 20th level campaign set in the land of dreams, Coliseum Morpheoun, which I had no part in its creation, but appreciate it all the same.

All 3 were created by Jonathan McAnulty, Wicht, here on the boards. With more Kaidan adventures coming soon!

Here's another vote for Zeitgeist, at least Adventure One (just because I haven't gotten to the next three published adventures yet). My group had a pulse-poundingly good time with the set-piece combats in that adventure, and the players really seemed to feel like they were portraying real characters in a real world.

The first and third sessions were especially awesome (beginning and end of Adventure One).

Would you say it's worth the $50-$60 price tag for the printed book?

If you run an undersea game, then yes, absolutely. While the PDF is informative and functional, the product in print is stunning. It reminds me of Mystic Eye Games' "The Deep" which, despite a few editing issues, was also a must-have product.

Unfortunately all of my best experiences have been with unpublished homebrewed sandboxes.

I have yet to play in a published module (from Village of Hommlet to Dragonlance through Call of Cthulhu and Runequest stuff to Legacy of Fire and Thunderspire Labyrinth) which was given the same amount of excitement and freshness. I think most of my dungeon masters preferred their own worlds, and thus always ran a better game when it was in their sandbox.

I must say however that as a dungeon master, most of the Fourth Edition published adventures are extremely easy to run: when you just need some encounters, some traps and some rooms with monsters on short notice, nothing is more convenient than this stuff.

While I would never say "the very best", Revenge of the Iron Lich is a lot of fun and has reinvigorated our enjoyment of 4E. I think it is the true 4E heir to the original AD&D Tomb of Horrors.
