Incorporating Dragon Magic in to my Realms campaign

Hey all,

I'm looking at what to incorporate from Dragon Magic into my Forgotten Realms Campaign, and I have a couple of questions.

I can see using the Dragonfire Adept, which is really a variant of the Warlock, being descended from divine or semi-divine dragons. So, since I'm running an Unapproachable East campaign, Tchazzar and Tiamat come to mind. Are there any other mojo dragons I'm not seeing?

Next question - there's all sorts of references to Bahamut this and that. I don't recall Bahamut really ever playing much of a role in the FR. Can anyone point out where Mr. Shiny poked his head in?

Thanks guys!

Dragons of Faerun has some answers for you, if you can peruse or buy a copy.

Bahamut has been around since the beginning and his major surfacing in known history was during the Dragonfall war during the Age of Dragons, which was a war (more like a proxy war) between the followers of Bahamut and the followers of Tiamat.

Bahamut moved out view of non-dragonkind history with the fall of Tiamat. Now that Tiamat has re-emerged as a mover and shaker in the realms, Bahamut is once more coming to the forefront as the Dragonfall War redux starts to warm up.

Other mojo dragons are Kauth (Sword Coast North) and Sharpfangs (Tethyr / Amn / Calimshan) as well as a handful of the top dracoliches (can't recall the names right now)

Thanks BM!

I read Dragons of Faerun, and it all sounded like a big retcon. I'm wondering if there was any real mention of Bahamut prior to Dragons of Faerun?

As for Kauth, Sharpfang, and the dracoliches, I was looking more for semi-divine or extraplanar dragons. I figure Dragonfire Adepts have to come from something more than your garden-variety dragons, otherwise they'd be half-dragons, or the like.

I think Bahamut's first appearance in the Realms was in H4: The Throne of Bloodstone, where he had a significant role. He was also mentioned in the 2E supplement FOR1: Draconomicon, a Realms-specific accessory.

It was not a "big retcon." I worked from existing (if obscure) Realmslore from 1e, 2e, and 3e. The Dragonfall War fit naturally into hints of an ongoing war between Bahamut and Tiamat tin the Realms hat was already in print.

Hey Eric, are you following me around the various boards? :D

I only thought it sounded like a retcon because I hadn't recalled hearing *anything* about Bahamut previously. Everything I had recalled about Tiamat involved the Untheric pantheon. But if there was previous mention, that's cool.

If anyone would know about obscure mentions about the realms, it would be you!

Maybe you can tie the emergence of Dragonfire Adepts with the latest Tearfall where dragon eggs rained from the sky.

Just an idea.

Bahamut and Tiamat aren't the only Draconic deities in the Realms. There are others, as detailed in 2E Cult of the Dragon book. There was supposed to be info on them and their roles in the Realms and how to play a half-dragon or non-dragon character in service to them, but it all got cut from Dragons of Faerun (damn R&D to hell or whoever edits stuff out books). It'd be nice to see it as a Web Enhancement, but I think we're getting screwed royally in that department too (as in, there won't be one probably).

Bahamut and Tiamat is rather overrated to me, and I personally want to know the going ons of the other deities in the Realms, as minor as a role as they most likely have currently. Specifically I am interested in Null.
