Increasing Max Dex?

If I'm playing in your campaign and I wanted a magical sword, but I didn't care about increasing its Hardness and Hit points, would you let me get a +2 sword for the price of a +1? After all, I don't care about that other stuff, and I don't want to have to pay for it if I don't want it.

Right?

When was the last time your DM tried to sunder your weapon?

I'm saying that IF you want to make it a +1 bonus cost you damn well better be giving me more than just a +1 to Max Dex that DOESN'T stack with itself.

The problem is that if you have Uncanny Dodge, an increased Max DEX modifier is better than an equally increased armor bonus, because:
- It increases your touch AC
- It doesn't count toward the max enhancement bonus of +5 of the armor

That's why people say that it should be priced at +1 minimum. Not because they rigidly adhere to RAW.

Exactly. Read this again. +1 max dex is better than a +1 enhancement bonus to armor, especially if you have Uncanny Dodge. Why should something that's better than a +1 bonus be cheaper than a +1 bonus?

Hrm.

Personally, I'd just let you stack Nimbleness, as I agree that increasing the Max Dex by more than +1 for a +1 bonus is over powered.

When was the last time you played a character who cared about Armor Check Penalty?

In other words, that an issue. You want to get an extra benefit because there are certain aspects of the item you don't plan on using. And I'm telling you that it's not an option, balance-wise.

Let's try another scenario. If I was in your game, and I wanted to play a Fighter, but I knew I would never use a Kukri, Dagger, Quarterstaff, Greatclub, Glaive, Ranseur, Padded Armor, Leather Armor, Studded Leather Armor, Scale Male, Splint Mail, Hide Armor, Small Wooden Shield, Heavy Wooden Shield, Light Hammer, Short Sword, Bastard Sword, Punching Dagger, Spiked Gauntlet, or Light Mace, would you allow me bonus feats for each of those instead? After all, I have no intention of using those, and I don't want my class to forfeit benefits I could have otherwise gotten just because SOME people MIGHT want to use those weapons. How about it? Mind letting me start with 20 extra feats?
