Incubus - ECL

Sorry to double-post, but this seems to be a topic for either board, and this is the more lively of the two. I apologize for any breach of etiquette.

From Dragon #353:

Incubus
Outsider (Chaotic, Evil, Tanar'ri)

AC: 17 (+3 natural)
HP: 30 (4 HD)
DR 5/cold iron or good
Immunities: electricity & poison
Resistences: acid cold, & fire 10
SR: 15 (10 + CHA)

So, the question is, what is it's Level Adjust/ECL?

I tried comparing it to the Succubus, but since the Succubus can fly, I wasn't pleased with the comparison. I looked at several other options, and I think it should be a +4 level adjust total, making it an 8th-level ECL.

I played this number conservatively, but this is for a campaign where nearly every player will be playing a monster with a level-adjust, so I feel obligated to try to match Wizard's evaluation. Please let me know what you think, and thank you for your time.

I don't think you're wrong. I too figured that it was likely a +4 LA. What got me though was what class were you supposed to advance the thing? It says it's a soldier with a longsword so my guess would be Fighter.

If you want to make this a PC... LA isn't an exact science. It requires some guess work and then a lot of trial and error. I'd try it out at +3 first, then +4, and see which gave better results and take that one. I'm leaning towards +4, but it is right there on the cusp of either.

It would not be +2, nor would it be +5.

I say +4 LA simply because of the caster level for the at-will spells. The succubus casts them at 12. She has 6 HD and 6 LA. The incubus casts them at 8 and has 4 HD.
