Index card printer

Hi,

I'm in the market for a new printer. And I want to make sure that whatever I get can print on Index cards that I use for initiatives, etc. I use 3"x5" cards.

I'm not really interested in colour, but wouldn't turn it down. Speed of printing isn't a huge issue either.

It would be good if it had a flatbed scanner in it.

Can anyone recommend current models of printers which can do this?

Thanks

Duncan

Printer are much the same, things to look for Toner Cart replacements cost and pages per toner cart. You may want to check what weight of paper stock a printer can handle the higher the weight the thicker the paper.

It took a bit of work in MS Word to get the page size right (the program kept wanting to make it larger...), but once I did my Brother HL-1440 printed just fine on the index card. I don't think the 1440 is still available, but I believe the 1540 is, and it's pretty cheap at under $200 (note: this is a b&w laser printer). It's been very reliable for me, and the toner cartridge costs are reasonable for the number of pages I've gotten.

BTW - Thanks for a great idea. Never occurred to me to print straight onto my index cards. I was printing on labels, then sticking those to the cards. You just saved me some time, money, and effort - much appreciated.

I started a thread a little while ago about using index cards as the basis for my DMing filing system. I'll have to find out whether I have access to a printer.. the stuff written in pencil is starting to smudge. :(
