Sample encounters...pregenerated treasure hordes...ugh. They found yet another way to stretch things out for the sake of stretching it out. Sigh. :\

Right, because nobody's been asking for sample encounters and similar DM aids.

Oh, wait. Yes they have. A lot. Heck, there are entire threads devoted to the concept over on the WotC boards.

Yet another Monster Manual. . .sigh. After three Monster Manuals, a Fiend Folio and Monsters of Faerun (not to mention new creatures added in Libris Mortis, Draconomicon, Epic Level Handbook and the Expanded Psionics Handbook), it's getting a little crowded in the world. How many DM's actually need five or six monster books? I rarely have to leave the MM to get what I want.

I prefer to have the options to draw from. I don't assume that every creature in every book exists in my world(s). But it's nice that, if I decide I want to include something from a book I know none of my players have ever read, and thus shake things up a bit, I have the option.

Actually, The Book of Nine Swords interests me. I've been looking to have different martial guilds in the game with different styles and flavor. Beyond that of mere fluff, of course.

d20 Spectaculars: Who were they kidding earlier? Marvel and DC NEVER let anyone use superhero.

the big dragon minis: I cry foul... what happened to them being packaged with one other mini? (presumably a dragon slayer and a dragon cultist of some sort) Now that they really are JUST the mini, I'm a bit cranky.

PHB2: i hold out little hope its half as good as it should be. probably filled with already printed material.

Dragons of Faerun: Gah. Don't want to have to buy a FR book for more dragon stuff. Probably don't need another dragon book anyway after Draconomicon.

Why is there still no Dragonmarked Houses of Eberron book? sigh

The Tome of Nine Swords could be interesting, or might not be. Much like the Tome of Magic earlier in 2006.

The only things I'm sure to grab in 2006 are the the Player's Guide to Eberron in January and the Huge minis in July

Looks like I'll be spending a lot of money next year too... ;)

Thanks Thalmin! I'm excited about a number of these books!

I must have more than thirty monster books on my shelf. Most of the DMs I know have half a dozen or more. I'm afraid your complaint about options is not shared widely.

Actually, they only have trademark co-ownership of "super hero" and "super heroes."

Unless you can prove to me that David & Goliath, Inc. is a front for DC and Marvel (this company got the claim on "superhero"), or perhaps Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital, Inc. (got the claim on "superheroes").

Don't believe me? Do a search on www.uspto.gov (and make sure you select live trademarks).

Extremely unlikely, since that's the statblock for (specific) NPCs only.
It works for monsters just as well. About the only thing missing (other than ecology information) is the hit die type.

No! Not a "new statblock format"! It'll be the one from DMG 2 / Dungeon Magazine! I like the good ol' version! Noooooooooo...

I'll still buy it anyway. Damn my eyes!

Demiurge out.
