They spread out. </p><p></p><p>I'm not saying that doing it this way is perfect, but it simply makes the combats more exciting. It CERTAINLY isn't more complicated or time consuming then rolling initiative for EIGHT goblins in a combat.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p>I agree that in combat 101, you need to concentrate attacks. I do so on both sides of the DM screen. But in reality, it just doesn't happen that consistently to make a difference that I'd want to roll bunches of inits.</p></blockquote><p></p>
