Initiator Level Calculation

Corwin of Amber

First Post
Some Background: I am a Cleric/Bone Knight planning to take the Martial Study Feat. I have a Ghast companion with levels in Crusader. What I would really like is to grab a level of Cleric on the Ghast and enter Bone Knight as well.

My questions relate to figuring out the initiator level in various circumstances.

1.) ToB says that PrCs add strictly to the initiator level without specifically saying only the ToB classes. While I do believe that RAI meant only the ToB PrCs I want to know if Bone Knight will add to my Ghast's IL 1/level for determining what maneuvers I can take if i go back into Crusader. (Do all PrCs add directly it IL or just ToB PrCs?)

2.) If PrC levels increase IL on a 1-for-1 level, does this also count for calculating the IL when taking the Martial Study feat?

Not quite: It says "in most cases," and then references the PrCs chapter. Unless a PrC says in its description "You add your full X levels to your initiator level" etc. etc., it doesn't. Not even all the ToB ones do--the Bloodstorm Blade actually doesn't add full levels to IL.

Those PrCs that do increase IL 1:1 add to all IL, whether from martial adept classes or not. A crusader 2/warblade 2/swordsage 2/bloodclaw master 1 has an IL of 3 in all 3 classes, and a fighter 6/bloodclaw master 1 has an IL of 4 (3 fighter + 1 BCM) for Martial Study and Martial Stance.

Wouldn't that be IL 5 for each: 2 from the class for that IL, 1 from bloodclaw master and 1 from the each of the other base classes?
