Message: <blockquote data-quote="WizO_Ka'yn" data-source="post: 2559610">I've been watching this thread, lurking- I guess you might say.  I thought it might be best to just watch rather than "add to" but today I changed my mind.I wanted to touch on the subject of patrons/players reporting problems.  As I recall when I was growing up one of the worst things to ever be called was Tattletale.  That was something to be avoided at all costs it seemed.  Dont confuse that kind of thinking with what is essentially your responsibility as a player who wants to keep this site running smoothly and safely for all who play here.  Yes, it'd be nice to have Wizo moderation around the clock.  But that's not possible at this time.  So we are forced to deal with long blocks of time where we are not going to have a Wizo visably in the room.  Most players carry on with their RP no matter if a Wizo is there or not.  If they happen to see someone slipping near the edge of some COC infraction, they send a quick PM to remind or nudge and go right on with the RP.  I've seen this lots of times.  If the problem gets bad - say a scroller who's playing with the emotes..  probably this player might use the ignore on him.  After all, its hard to even read the screen with scrolling going on.  And most scrollers arent really going to listen to a nudge.  In these two situations one would call for a report, one probably wouldnt.  The thing to do would be just report the room, time, screen name and a bit of what the problem was.  In this case you'd just mention scrolling and send the report on its way.   It's not tattletaling or being a squealer.  Its just helping keep the site free for those who want to RP.  Will some infractions slip by unwarned? Yes. But the thing to remember is this.  If a person is the kind to be a problem, he's not going to stop at one time.  If he continues to be a problem, he'll be warned and removed if that's what it takes.  There are several players that are good about alerting me to things when there's no moderator onsite.  They always say I hate to bother you, but you know what? It's not a bother.  I would very MUCH rather be called in to help.  And if I'm not free to pop in, I can usually find someone who is.  Ugh.. I'm probably rambling now.  All I really wanted to say is, report problems please.
