Insidious Plans and Alignment Consequences [Morality-ish]

Here's the situation.

I am playing a LN tiefling wizard. Imagine a Stewey from "Family Guy" grown up, and you have something near his personality. The DM has his "N"PC (as I like to call him) in the party, and he is a ranger/cleric.

The two of us are fairly hostile to each other, though it has not really come to a head until recently. At the outset of our relationship, I was transported to the city where the rest of the PCs were with information regarding a former PC (whose player left). The kingdom I come from has a decided LE bent, though both my kingdom (Tyradis) and the party's lands oppose a new and powerful king. So we have some good reasons for cooperation.

I am admitted to the throne room of the lord, with the other PCs and Captain Cooper present. After revealing that my people are holding their gravely injured former companion (we didn't do it) Cooper draws steel and places the point at my neck and demands that I divulge everything I know. This marks the high point of our relationship. Needless to say, I survive, and Cooper and I have never had anything near a friendship. Possibly grudging respect from him for my magics, but his often scorning words are met with cold condescention from me (always in a reactive manner, of course).

This relationship has lasted for 7 months in-game time. And now...

The druid of the group was killed in a big fight the session before last (mounted character+lance+spirited charge=druid paste). The player is bringing in a female Tyradian duelist-type, who is joining the party as an addition to the Tyradian presence during these great events. She arrived outside camp accompanied by a messenger for me and issued a Sending that I join them. Messages were relayed, and the girl followed me back to camp.

[Aside]
Tyradian society operates something like Drow-lite. Women are superior to men; only women are priests; Tiefling women are revered and considered special; Tiefling men are either slaves in breeding programs or eunich wizards (me).
[/Aside]

Well we show up in camp and Cooper is immediately unfriendly to the woman. His innuendos imply rape or murder, or both, and he is chided by the rest of the party. I demand that his hostility towards the Tyradian tiefling girl cease immediately or he shall suffer the consequences of threatening one of noble blood. He does not stop, although he does nothing, and I appear to let it slide.

When we arrive at town, the gate guards demand half again as much entry money as last time, and I sit down to issue a sending. In that 10 minutes, Cooper relates to another PC that he would like to slit the girl's throat, but unfortunately I was out of earshot, so I cannot cite that as a reason to do what I plan to do.

The Plan
Magic Jar him.
Stow away his bow and armor (both worth $$$).
Go drinking a bit, and boast intentions to bed and slay tiefling, in a joking manner.
Find tiefling girl and attack with sword.
Lose to her & die (I go back to magic jar).
End spell, grab bow and armor, Teleport to Tyradis, trade for goods I need for spellcasting, Teleport back.
And of course all of this would be away from the other memebers of the party.

I attack the tiefling girl for three reasons: One, we male tieflings maintain a healthy respect to female tieflings, but only if they deserve it. She has yet to prove that she does deserve it, and combat with Cooper would serve to facilitate this. Two, she is from a house somewhat at odds with mine in the political machinations of Tyradis. Were she to die, their designs on having a presence in the party would be thwarted. Three, it is utterly believeable that Cooper would get drunk and attack this girl. He might have actually gotten drunk and attacked her. Especially when the other PC reveals his desire to slit her throat.

So... what do you think of:
A) My insidious plan. How can it be improved?
B) The morality of it. Does he constitute enough of a threat to be worthy of being removed? Does it matter that he is now threatening a female tiefling instead of a male, which is circumscribed according to my Law?
C) Does profiting off of it change the morality in any way, or is it just a seperate instance of me being a cold-blooded meglomaniac wizard?
D) Anything else you can think of...

Much obliged.

If Cooper hasn't attempted to harm the girl, and he hasn't even said anything hostile towards her while you could listen, I think that getting him killed is quite on the evil side. Probably in line with your Law, but I'm not sure about your alignment (then again, not all LN are the same). What you do with the weapons is not very important at this point.

I'm more concerned about the reactions of the DM and your fellow players. Are you sure that none would take offense if you did this?

Nasty.

Hmm. I agree with Zappo - a lot depends upon the reaction of the rest of the party.
Then again, do it right and they need never know.

Revenge isn't necessarily a Lawful trait and assassination (for that is what you're proposing) is generally held to be an evil act.

the more I think about it the more I reckon you'd move along the alignment scale towards Chaotic Evil. Not all the way mind you, just a bit.
