Indeed, this lack of our ability to disentangle these kinds of issues is one of the reasons for my scepticism that intelligence can currently be measured accurately.

I tend to agree that currently intelligence cannot accurately be measured in absolute units analogous to height (cm) or weight (kg); and indeed it may be that our common-sense notion of intelligence isn't amenable to such measurement. I do think IQ measurements of relative intelligence can be interesting and illuminating despite all the potential misunderstandings.

Exactly. There's no need to measure any of the d20 stats in real-world-terms.
