First Post
I have been working for a local security company doing mobile patrols and alarm response now since February of this year. As with most jobs, I started out as a regular grunt worker. But now, It would appear that I have gained the attention of several people in the upper echelons.
A couple of weeks ago, one of the directors (just below manager) gave me a heads up on an upcoming supervisor position that would soon be opening. Since that time, another director, as well as 3 supervisors have made some "wink wink, nudge nudge" comments to me regarding the position. Obviously, nothing official has been said, but I have been unofficially encouraged to apply for the job.
First the carrot.... the job schedule runs on a 12 hour day. 4 on, 4 off (which I prefer) as opposed to am 8 hour day 5 on, 2 off (Which I am doing). It also comes with a 2 dollar/hour raise.
Now the Stick.... The job also comes with a lot of responsibility and I would essentially be in charge of several people who have much more experience than I. Not exactly an enviable position.
Honestly, I am happy where I am in my current position. However, experience has taught me that I must get out of my comfort zone if I am to accomplish anything. Every time I have done so, it has been a positive move. So... wish me luck people. Time to make another leap.
