So, to be clear, is this a trick for new-DMs? or a new trick? or what?
Basically, all I'm getting from this is "award XP for things other than combat". Which, has been around forever, so how is this anything related to the title?
I feel like the title was just click-bait.

My stuff is old cause I'm old. Otherwise u gotta ask the OP.
How about this for a new one; if a player is on their phone during combat the enemy gets a free auto-hit but the PC gets 10 x damage amount XP. Is that new?
