You could have some sort of challenge based on the old "pick up sticks" game: make it pick up coins instead and slightly change the winning condition. Basically there's a set amount of coins, and either side takes their turn to pick up 1, 2 or 3 coins. If there are no coins left to pick up (in this variant), you lose.
Something that was in an old (and very wierd) shadowrun adventure is an encounter where each of the players can choose to play blackjack (or some other simple betting game). They're given an amount of tokens, and the dealer plays by casino rules. The twist is that after the game is over, it turns out that each token represents a healing surge.
One or more party members are trapped, and can only be freed by placing coinage equal to the worth of all they are carrying upon a platform (to make it obvious, the mechanism of the trap should probably resemble scales in some way). The (best) solution is to take everything of value from the trapped characters so that their net worth is zero, rather than sacrifice anything at all on the other side of the scale.
