Invasion by who or what

And often, xenophobic tendencies, especially in the human race, tend to get in the way of peace and harmony.

Maybe it's becouse of the Tolkien Heritage, but I find every single other race, except halflings, way more xenophobic than humans. Elves that see themselves as the "chosen people", Eladrins that mistrust "lower" races, isolated dwarves, "we-shall-rule-the-world" hobgoblins, "ours-is-the-only-true-honorable-race" dragonborns.... pick your choice.

I have question about what type of creature would be good to use for invasion plot, besides robots, aliens, zombies, mutants, demons or any others that have been done so many times before? What type of creature can be used that is different and not be done before?

I am pretty sure its been done before but something from the sea could be a little different. You could also go with something plant-based.

Fey, Angels, dream-creatures, time travellers, internal threat; something abstract like disease, or perhaps an ideological shift (a ZEITGEIST, if you will...)

Everything's been done before, but not always in the same ways :)

Plants . . . maybe Poison Ivy in some of the Batman Hush, a run through Harry Harrison's Deathworld, read (not view) Day of the Triffids Chapter 1 and 2 ish . . . then just throw in the hay fever. Ever seen a player pay hard cash for extortionately priced hankies - you have now

Memes. Seriously. Memes.

If you're not familiar with David Brin's Uplift series (a very good read), there are 5 levels of hyperspacial dimensions one can travel through for FTL travel. The higher the level, the less bound by our notion of universal laws of physics. The highest level, E, is the fastest (usually), but also most dangerous. At this level, reality is abstract and populated by memes. Memes are dangerous to interact with here, as simple observation by an intelligent creature is enough to change them, or the current representation of the plane itself, or both. Physical contact with them is generally a bad thing, as normal matter mixing with a half thought given form doesn't react well. Memes are attracted to intelligence to give them true form, at the same time, they change the physical nature of that creature. Example, a snake-like meme bites an uplifted chimp on the ass, it changes nature and fuses to him as a full tail. That is a tolerable interaction. When traveling through E-space, it's best to go through as quick and short a path as possible to limit interactions.

So, the barriers of hyperspace are breaking down and memes are literally pouring through and warping reality. Hide your lolcats.

I'm going to second the disease, but how about "Hate"? It's hard to fight an emotion until you deal with the God/dess who has control of it.

And just because, Grippli.

A few things comes to mind: I do mind aliens just not space aliens, dimensional aliens would be ok just not sure which dimension. I am thinking of of Elementals and nature spirits would be another but are they considered in some cultures to be the same?
