Ioun stones - is there a limit?

Is there a limit to the number of ioun stones a character can wear at one time? If so, what is it and where can it be found?

Although I can't find it at the moment (figures), I recall that in one of the core rulebooks there is a picture of a character with 3 ioun stones rotating around his head. That seems like a reasonable limit to me, but I'd like to know what the official word is.

Slotless means that there's no limit, as long as the stones do different things. I use Congenio Ioun as an NPC in my game, and he usually has fifteen or so of the little buggers orbiting his head.

For major disorientation, cast continual flame on all your 10+ ioun stones and watch the shadows . Or just put it on one and have a hands-free torch that's cheap at low levels.

Torchlight ain't that bad. You get used to it. Just gotta blink at the right times and...

Besides, it's not so bad, just as long as you remember to take it down when hiding. My players didn't .

What I don't get about ioun stones is what stops people just grabbing them. It doesn't sound like it would be all that difficult, with how they're described.

AoO, dimunitive size + attended object AC (dunno off the top of my head). And one of them could be a trap if you're a cunning wizard

Right. But grabbing them IS easy. That's why wizards usually have as many as possible woozing around your head.
