IPhone 4s = overanticipated

For a device being hailed as a dud and a mistake on Apple's part, one million orders in the first 24 hours -- up from 600,000 for the iPhone 4 -- sure doesn't sound like a dud or mistake.

If having all your data in you iPod is working, I'd probably stick with that. The iPad is bigger to see, but bigger to carry.

I tend to look at those situations, as what functionality are you already carrying that you can merge hardware and reduce. dumbphone + iPod = iPhone = less clutter

dayplanner + iPod = iPad = less clutter

notepad = not sure if iPad better (i'm not yet sold on taking notes in my iPad, it still feels too slow to capture my ideas).

I'm big on less crap to carry. My wife use to tote dumphone + mp3 player + PSP. the iPhone pretty much replaced a couple pounds of crap and fits in her pocket.

While i'd prefer to carry less, I'm already a well-trained mule! ;)

I've looked at all the combos, and really won't be able to decide for a while. Like I said, I still haven't found a smartphone that really is as compact, simple and fast to use for being a phone as a dumb phone, so I just don't see the logic of me owning an iPhone. The pending iPad is a gift- what to do?- and my iPod Touch plus the iPad together wouldn't hold as much music as an iPod Classic...and I may still have to make choices about what songs go on it and which don't.

Plus, lets face it, of all the options, the iPad has the biggest screen: all my assorted visual media will be easier to use with it.
