[Iron Kingdoms] I've got Monsternomicon, Vol.2!

This is an awesome book. There is a lot of the usual reimagining of classic monster types (satyrs, giants, titans, revenants, just to name a few) that get a unique new take (I know some dislike this, but I personally like it quite a bit), as well as a ton of imaginative new monsters. It has a strong focus on Eastern Immoren (pages 176-236 are basically a sourcebook on the region), which leads to a good number of desert creatures, some of which are very, very cool. It has a number of steampunkish constructs, but not as many as in Monsternomicon 1. It has a Dragon with an ability called "burnination". It has an undead that I think is based on Mr. Creosote. All of the giants in teh book are unique, and almost as powerful as the unique dragons. My favorite creature may be the Lord of the Feast, a CN outsider who is an avatar of the destructive power of nature, and dissolves into a flock of crows when killed...

I hadn't even noticed "burnination". :D Just read the dragons' entry. That alone is stuff enough for an entire campaign, IMHO.

Hmm...MM5 or Monsternomicon2 - I am betting I will choose the latter rather than the former, but does anyone know the relative prices of each?

Oh, DO go with Monsternomicon 2. If it's like 1, it'll be jam-packed with creative new beasties, adventure hooks for each monster, and awesome art. And, although I haven't gotten the chance to see it yet, I'm betting that a lot of the "new" monsters aren't just existing monsters with a few levels of ninja or blackguard or some stupid crap tacked onto them.

If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask them. I'm a little busy, but I'll try to get back to you ASAP.

ISBN number? I don't see it on amazon yet.

How are the d20 mechanics details? I recently got volume 1 and was surprised at errors like the deathjack not having construct bonus hp for size, the dune prowler not listing its special attacks in the stat block, most humanoids not listing their subtype, dragonspawn random tables with no CR guidelines, etc.

Is the big Lord T dragon one of the dragons detailed?

ISBN is 978-978-1-933363.

The Lord Toruk isn't part of the book, although several of his "children" are.

I haven't had the time to check out the mechanics in detail - and since my law exams are drawing ever nearer, I probably won't have the opportunity to do so anytime soon, sorry :(.

However, I'm sure some of the other folks who already own the book can volunteer their opinion on this matter!

I'm not the best person to answer this, as minor details don't generally bother me, or catch my eye that much (though some of those MN1 mistakes were doozies), but my quick overview opinion is that the rules look good. There were some neat special abilities that caught my eye as being cool additions and abilities.

I caught most of the MN1 mistakes as I entered the creatures into E-Tools to use them; I expect that's when I'll notice any in this book as well.
