The Adventure Begins...

The Fortune pulled alongside the dock with the paddlewheels churning the water slowly. A man on the deck throws a heavy rope to a gobber standing on the dock. The gobber ties the rope to the dock and runs off to attend to other ships.

“So, here we are. Five Fingers: A greater hive of scum and villainy is not to be found in the Iron Kingdoms.”

Three men emerged from the deckhouse and joined Skritch on deck as he lowered the gangplank to the dock. All three were from Cygnar and had traveled down the Dragon’s Tongue for a week on the Fortune with its owner/captain/first mate/cabin boy, Skritch. The smallest of the three, Caltros, held a perfumed neckerchief to his nose and then turned towards Skritch.

“ Can you recommend any establishments where we might procure a room?”

Skritch looked at them out of the corner of his eye and pointed across the dock.

“I don’t know if it qualifies as an ’establishment’, but the Broken Mug should do. Good food and the prices are not bad. It should suit your purposes.”

The Captain of the Fortune turned towards the three men.

“Good luck with whatever it is you seek and remember Skritch and the Fortune the next time you need to travel to Cygnar.”

The three men walked down the gangplank and onto the dock. They were immediately taken aback by the amount of activity going on. Sailors carrying crates to and from ships; gobbers cleaning the barnacles off ships; a steamjack holding an iron plate to a ship as it is being affixed. The three men pushed their way past the throng and get off the dock.

The biggest of the three, Sigurd, took the lead as they stepped off the dock into what seemed to be a crowd gathering for some event. Sigurd led the way, pushing into the crowd. As they moved into the crowd, they could hear some of what was being said as a speaker addressed the crowd.

“…your immortal soul is at risk…through the teachings of Men-…false gods that seek to deceive and en-…”

The crowd had grown and Sigurd and the others found that they could get no closer. As they turned to leave, Caltros and Sigurd caught a glimpse of a small, red object being thrown from the crowd towards the center of the crowd. People started scattering in all directions.

Kariff turned to look to see why the people were scattering, when they heard:
“ Discipline them.”

As if on cue, five men, wearing gray surcoats with the Menofix emblazoned upon it, stepped from the scattering crowd and formed a semi-circle about the three. What happened next is a matter of some debate among witnesses to the event.

It is unclear whether the Menites attacked first or the strangers from Cygnar did. All that can be stated is that the strangers accounted of themselves well and, except for a period of time during the battle in which Caltros was singing and Sigurd charged off to battle the speaker on the makeshift stage, the battle was all but won. That is, until, the City Watch showed and forced all to surrender.

As the Watch Sergeant was getting an account of what had occurred, the speaker strode forth from the makeshift stage.

“I am Scrutator E’drayle and these are my servants. We are not subject to your laws. I demand that you release us immediately!”

The Watch Sergeant looked around nervously and then shifted his gaze to the three strangers from Cygnar.

“You! Come with us!”

The Watchmen surrounded the three and the Sergeant took the lead. They were lead along the waterfront until they came to a large, slightly sinister-looking, two-story brick building that had emblazoned above its doors:

City Gaol Warehouse District
All weapons must be checked at door

A burly ogrun took the weapons of the strangers as they passed through the doors. They were lead to a small cell with iron bars where the door was, unceremoniously, slammed shut. A man was sleeping in the corner; his head on his knees.

Caltros looked around the cell.

“Well, now what?”

Sigurd looked at the iron cell bars carefully. After a few moments of careful consideration, he gripped the bars.
“Uhhhhh…eeeeeee…uuuhhhhhhhhhh…”

The bars didn’t move an inch. Sigurd stepped away from the bars. As he did, they all heard a yawn as the man that was asleep awoke. They turned towards him.

He was dressed in a dirty brown outfit of some sort and had an eye patch over his left eye. He flashed them a smile that was missing more than a few teeth and moved the patch from his left eye to his right eye.

“So, what are ya in fer?”

Caltros recounted the tale of mistaken identity and how they had defended themselves. As he told the tale, the man listened intently.

“So, what about you? What are you in here for?”

The man looked at the three of them.

“Actually, I was waiting for you…

Hal AKA Caltros

That was a fun day and you forgot when I tried to agree with the Menofix about "disciplining them" trying to bluff my way out of getting banged up :D .

All in all a good day and can't wait till the next round.

Forgot...or conveniently left out? You decide...:D

ok, i'm playing the part of Kariff "The Blade":p Stone.

For the readers out there i would add that my characters most prominate part is in what you don't see here:

It is unclear whether the Menites attacked first or the strangers from Cygnar did. All that can be stated is that the strangers accounted of themselves well and, except for a period of time during the battle in which Caltros was singing and Sigurd charged off to battle the speaker on the makeshift stage, the battle was all but won. That is, until, the City Watch showed and forced all to surrender.

You'll notice that at one point Caltros and Sigurd are otherwise occupied. At that point in the battle things were very interesting for me. See i was left with three very mean men. The other two were menacing the singer, and as noted Sigurd was attempting to do stuff to the leader.

Anyone know what happens when one guy faces down three very mean men, well lets just say there was a lot of praying involved.:p I do have to addmit in all fairness it was my fault for trying to be subtle and fighting these guys with my dagger, but then i did make it out with that last hit point, and i managed to save some pride by dropping one of my opponents as a parting shot.:D

All in all a very fun game, it's going to be very interesting what happens next.:D
