As strange as the word sounds around here, I'd almost call the IKCG crunchy fluff :uhoh:

I can see where you're coming from with that.

Even when looking at the PrCs for example, it gives you a nice chunk of info on how this works in general, then how it works in the Iron Kingdoms. Make showing what was OGC and was was PI very easy.

Joe, I've always felt that things people call "fluff" is more crunch. Church/government structures, hierachies, etc are very "crunchy" to me. :)

Gotta disagree with ya there. Lots of background information, especially as far as the churches and religion, and their really out of place part about the constellations/celestial bodies.

Lots of crunch? Yup. 400 pages worth? Nope.
Even that's mostly crunch. Besides, the church and religion stuff is crunchy, as it has information about new domains, what to do with clerics and paladins, etc., what mechanical benefits that other religious character classes can get, and all that. Sure, it's not easily portable crunch, but it's still pretty much crunch.

In regards to crunch/no crunch, here's an official answer from the PP forums.

As per Jason Soles (PPS_MrSoles):
As the companion tome to the Character Guide, the World Guide focuses on the background and the history of the Iron Kingdoms. Where the Character Guide was devoted to crunch, the four hundred pages of the World Guide are devoted to giving readers an unprecedented look into western Immoren. The only truly crunchy bits included in the book are are the NPC levels.

Does Iron Kingdoms do anything different to the Core Rules?

For example, do they resolve firearms combat differently from the Core Rules: roll against AC and that's it. Or do they have DR and stuff like that for firearms?

Thanks.

Rolling to hit is even with firearms hasn't changed

They've got a chapter two preview here.
There's not much there (and it's all fluff), but it might give an idea of what to expect.

Joe, you didn't talk about the Bodger in your review, which was one of the things in the book that I was most torn about. I loved the feel of the class but the mechanics seemed difficult to unworkable. I was wondering if you (or anyone else here) had any advice on how to run a Bodger.

I don't really know what you mean by unworkable, I felt that the Arcane mechanik was underpowered.
