Irontooth...owie!!!!!

Here too. We drew aggro on Irontooth and the rest of the second encounter area before finishing off the entrance. It hurt a lot. Fun deaths all around and a valuable lesson learned.

In my game, as the GM, I decide at the beginning of the round what all the NPCs are going to try to do. Irontooth was going to charge the Paladin.

Over the course of the round the Paladin was dropped by the skirmishers and the minions. Since I play the NPCs to stick to plan, Irontooth ran around the corner and charged into the now-unconscious and dying Paladin.

Beheadings ensued.

Over the course of the rest of the battle the wizard, cleric, and fighter were also knocked out and dying. The rogue ran away.

That encounter would have TPK'ed the party if we would have been running the paladins Lay on hands correctly. We used it At-Will; Not At-Will once per day. That was wrong. Even with that mistake, the players walked away from the encounter firm in their belief 4e is much deadlier and nailbite-ier (??) than 3.x.
