Is a beast companion considered an ally?

Specifically I'm wondering in the case of a hybrid warlord/ranger, and whether the character could use commander's strike to have his beast attack.

Yes-- it specifically says that beast companions are allies in the description of beast companions in martial power-- and it also specifically says that a warlord can use commander's strike to give a beast companion an attack. Good combo, btw!

I have been thinking about taking Iron Dragon Charge for my warlord. The two allies who might benefit from it are our party fighter (but they may be hip deep in enemies) and our beast/bow ranger's lizard. I don't know if it'd be worth taking for a ranger/warlord compared with some other level 9 power, though.
