Is a signed PH worth anything?

I'm just curious. I have a PH that I bought at GenCon 2000. I managed to get it signed by Monte Cook, Skip Williams, Jonathan Tweet, Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson, both of the main artists (I forget their names), and one of the editors.

The other unique feature about this book is that it is printed incorrectly. About 12 pages are printed twice, and about 12 pages are missing as a result. I believe that halfway through the classes chapter it skips to skills. After the first 8-12 pages of skills it returns to normal and starts over with the skills chapter. The rest of the book is normal.

I tried to exchange it, and the girl at the PH booth was really cool about it. She said that she would be happy to do so, but she had only seen one other PH like it at the con. Plus, the darned thing was signed by everyone I could find.

I don't ever plan to actually sell the book, as it obviously has incredible sentimental value. What's the most this thing could ever be worth (I'm thinking $30, tops)? Does the misprint help or hurt the value?

It's worth what someone's willing to pay for it. :D

Cliched, but true. Prices for these sort of things is really hard to just define. It would be worth more then a run of the mill 1st printing PHb, obviously. But by how much? Who knows. Keep a hold of for the next fifty years and hope the RPG market doesn't go bust.

Don't get rid of the book, man--treasure it! Or as they suggest in the Hackmaster PHB, use all of those signatures for luck by rubbing dice across them--check out the book if you want full directions, LOL.

LOL!!! I was going to say this. Although I have to say frmo my perspective it is worth nothinig more than a normal PHB - but then again I never by Collectors or Limited Editions - all I want is the goodies inside and not more stuff to keep in my house.

Unfortunately, the only ones that command more than the retail price are the ones that Eric Noah signed, which go for around $200 at auction.

But some weirdo named Kevin Kulp bought all of those. Damn his eyes.

Years back, there was an RPG price guide, along the lines of Overstreet's comic guide. It was a joke - most of the stuff was priced lower than its original cover price, even some pretty famous modules. Even stuff that had accrued in value was pretty pathetic.

Now, with E-bay and its ilk, we start to see the kind of prices on some items like you'd find on some fairly valuable comics. Still, everybody will lowball the price something fierce when you're trying to sell. That's just natural. I'd say hang onto it. The autographs may help increase the value, if they can be authenticated. The misprint, I don't know. I doubt you could make much more than $30 US on it, but hey, stick it on E-bay and start the price at $30 and see what happens. But I still say to keep it.

Are you srue it would be worth the same as a normal PHB? I mean, a mint PHB won't have all those illegible scrawls all over it. It might be worth more if not defaced=)
