Is a touch spell discharged if you strike a mirror image?

Actually, if in melee combat you are better off shutting your eyes and thus having only a 50% miss chance.

Except for the fact that you can't get rid of the images this way.

edit: Sorry, this post was dumb because it has nothing to do with touch attacks.

. This whole thing about dismissing touch spells is just the result of these guys getting so caught up in each other's arguments that they're now arguing for the sake of proving that their arguments are arguably worthy to argue over. [/B]

Assuming folks mean stop "holding the charge," whether or not you can choose to stop holding a charge for a "touch" spell is important to deciding if you lose it to a mirror image.

(Dismissing a spell has nothing to do with holding a charge for a "touch" spell, of course.)

If you can ONLY lose a "touch" spell by using it, touching something or casting another spell, then you actually have no control over "holding the charge" and "striking" a mirror image would have no effect on holding the charge.

If you can forgoe holding the charge whenever you like, that implies some control over holding the charge, and then you might lose the chrage when "striking" a mirror image. At least in this case there is a good argument to be made, in the former, it's pretty much decided before you begin.

See the "MUST you hold a charge...?" thread for a , so far, pretty uninspired discussion of whether you MUST hold the charge.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread and, uh, discharged their community responsibility ;)

I'm still not completely clear in my own mind which way to go with this decision, but I'd like to thank you for all the good arguments pro and con which have been made.

Ta!
