Is DDI going to be retro?

I overflew the OP post yesterday, and didn't quite get what he meant with "retro". Retro - like in old style? What does this have to do with what he wrote?

Thanks, now I am getting it. *head on table* :p :)

I seem to remember something indicating they won't be offering access to back issues, and that if you have a gap in your service the back issue stuff you have will be gone when you re-subscribe..
I believe you are remembering speculation and not actual WotC comments (I might have missed some changes).

I specifically have seen comments from that the plan is when your subscription lapses you will still have access to the Dragon/Dungeon issues from when you were subscribed. I also saw comments that they intended to allow you to buy issues after the month was over and it was compiled in a single PDF. Whether those plans changed over time, I am not sure. However, they have stated these plans at least once.

Interesting - anyone noticed the underlines under WotC or DDI? If you hover over them, the term is explained. How does this work, and where do we feed this information? ;)

4. Some customers who would have payed a bit for all our content will instead choose to download the content for free rather than wait N months to get access to it legitimately.

I think anyone who can rationalize pirating the content will do so regardless of WoTCs pricing structure or content decisions. A thief's a thief.

For me, having the compendium alone is worth $5 a month, especially as it continues to be populated with new data. If I get access to new articles three times a week, its all gravy. (don't tell WotC - they'll think they've under-priced it!)

However, the 'Pro' version of DDI doesn't interest me so much. I hope they keep their cable subscription like tiered pricing scheme.

On the reproduction of older Dragons. I believe that there are a number of copyright issues here. I know when the Compilation CD came out, there was all sorts of problems because a number of the fiction writers still hold the copyright to their stories.

And don't forget the comics...it was those excellent CDs that led to Hackmaster.

The thing though is that change only came about because the couldn't justify the price they wanted to charge without the tools and they were losing money as long as the tools remain unfinished.

Thank goodness for project overruns. We all win! (Well, at least I do.)

Does anyone have any word on how the DDI is even doing?
Aside from people who frequent message boards I havent met one person in real life that knows about it. Including game shop owners.

Personally Im not paying for something like the DDI, and if you cant get "back Issues" as a free download I sure as heck wont start. That and Im sure its all 4e crap.

Are you seeing underlines on these words in peoples posts (with information when a cursor is over it)? I don't see this on my computer.:(
